Purpose of the Role:

 Following an exciting period of growth transition for the Esports Awards, we are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to help us to see continued success as we progress forward. The successful applicant will quickly establish themselves as the key member of the team working closely with the Commercial, Partnership and Content Teams, with a focus on prospecting, agency liaison, pipeline management, sales communications and innovation of existing material. 

The role requires someone who is confident in working independently and with the ability to support and take over a prospect through the sales cycle. It is critical the successful candidate can build and sustain long term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Core sales initiatives will include Partnership leads, table sales and other revenue-generating activities for the Esports Awards. Holding critical relationships with external agencies and partners including IMG – our media rights agency. The candidate will control and report on all sales activity on a weekly basis

 General Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting the sales process and running the sales diary and calendar for the wider team. Attention to detail is a must.

On top of this, there may be other duties and tasks from time to time that require support, these will be in line with the role’s core duties and provide an opportunity to be involved in tenders and proposals that support and develop the business.

 Scope

 The Jobholder will liaise with their existing personal commercial network, research & target new business contacts and explore opportunities on the existing CRM in order to add value to the Esports Awards commercial programme. Personal Specification 

  • 3-5 years of sales experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is an advantage
  • A strong eye for opportunities and aptitude to close deals
  • Creative thinker with confidence to try new ideas and accept a challenge
  • Ability to work quickly from brief
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A people person with a good sense of humour
  • Meet and exceed sales targets
  • Presentation and negotiation skills
  • Happy to travel
  • A passion for and a keen understanding of the gaming and esports worlds

Key Skills and Accountabilities 

  • Adding value, aiding the commercial team in reaching their event revenue targets
  • Identify areas of new income from the existing customer database
  • Developing new business via networking and referrals
  • Managing our external sales agents and keeping the relationship positive at all times
  • Initiate face-to-face client meetings through research & follow up communication
    • Utilise LinkedIn and LinkedIn navigator to personally connect and develop senior managements connections in the industry
  • A key focus of the above around getting in front of these people. Populating diary space and validating leads…
  • Negotiating through the sales process towards the closure of a sale
  • To ensure customer records and sales activity are recorded on the database at all times
    • Effective use of CRM
    • Weekly reporting to Head of Commercial and group CEO
  • Working with the operations and marketing departments to match or exceed client expectations
  • Overseeing contract fulfilment and payments
  • Manage own targets and sales pipeline, along with the Head of Commercial
  • Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team and business performance
  • To aid the Operations Department at the Esports Awards
    • Hands-on/ can-do approach/ attitude

As a representative of the Esports Awards, the individual in this role – must be smart, positive, personable and well-presented. The candidate will need the ability to communicate at all levels, whilst also being able to gain an excellent understanding of the business.
