The greatest mark of respect. The Players’ Choice Award honours the competitor who has earned the admiration of their peers across esports. Voted on exclusively by professional players, this award celebrates the individual who defines excellence in skill, consistency, and impact.
Chosen by the pros themselves, this award recognises the player whose skill, performance, and influence have defined the year. When the best in the world choose their best, the result is esports’ ultimate peer-to-peer honour.
Eligibility & Criteria
Who is eligible to be voted on?
This award is open to all professional players who have competed in at least one qualifying S, A or B-Tier event during the eligibility window, which aligns with the official Esports Award competitive season. Players must have participated in official matches within qualifying tournaments.
Who can vote?
A professional player who has competed in at least one qualifying event may cast a vote. Regardless of whether they have attended the Esports World Cup or not.
Conflict of interest policy
Players may not vote for their teammates or players contracted to the same organisation. In the event of a player voting for their peers, their vote will be voided and not counted.
Voting best practice
Players are encouraged to consider individual performance across the season, impact in decisive moments, consistency at elite level. Whilst results are important the players individual performance is more impactful.
MVP awards are accepted as reasoning for a players performance however, their team’s collective performance is not. If the player has been a clear catalyst for their teams success then this will be taken as fair reasoning.
Tie-break protocol
In the event of a tie for first place a protocol will be activated.
This protocol will use metrics such as who received the most votes from S-Tier competitors, the most MVP awards throughout the season and their performance impact at S-Tier finals.
Should a tie still not be broken using the protocol players will be asked to vote once again with the only options being those who are involved in the tie for first place.
