The Esports Controller Rookie of the Year honours a professional player, either employed full-time, part-time or as a freelancer, who has primarily competed using a controller and has taken part in major tournaments for the first time over the past year. After improving their skills to get to the very top level this player will have finally made it into the professional scene over the previous 12 months and have impressed with their play at the very highest levels. Their skill will be undeniable and their name will be associated with those at the top. Tournament wins are not a requirement, but showing incredible skill and composure on the big stage while competing against tenured veterans will come naturally to them.
Award Criteria
Criteria 1:
Has competed as a professional player using a controller at major events for the first time in the previous 12 months.
Criteria 2:
Has shown incredible skill and composure while competing at the highest level.
Criteria 3:
Has achieved competitive success and critical acclaim for their in-game skill.
